WHS Jazz Band

 

 

The WHS Jazz Band , is a 18-23 member "big band," including instrumentalists and vocalist. The group features music in the Count Basie, Duke Ellington, and Woody Herman tradition, as well as more contemporary styles.. They play ballads, high-powered jazz tunes, and dance music arranged by Nestico, Niehaus, Taylor, and other great arrangers. WHJB has performed for community events, fundraisers, dances, receptions, private parties, and in concert. The WHS Jazz Band also travels to many contest throughout the state and into Missouri. The WHS Jazz Band earned the 2nd place trophy in class 3A at the STATE level during their 2007-2008 school year among many other awards.
